Honeymooners in Maui

AHH! We went to maui in April for our honeymoon and it was the most magical time. If you’ve never been to Hawaii in general, add it to your list. Pictures don’t do it justice. It is the most beautiful place I’ve been. Not to mention, with its breathtaking landscapes and romantic ambiance, Maui sets the perfect stage for an unforgettable honeymoon. I wanted to round up recommendations and things we did while in Maui so you can save for your next trip!

Here are the top resorts to stay at in Maui:

WAILEA SIDE:

Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort: This is where we stayed and LOVED it. This is definitely an upscale resort and very romantic.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Montage Kapalua Bay

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua

KA’ANAPALI SIDE:

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali: This is where we also stayed at the beginning of our trip and it was stunning and loved the vibe. I would say this resort is more family friendly and has a ton of family and kids activities!

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

We truly loved splitting up our time between the two popular areas on Maui, but here’s my advice when planning your trip and deciding where to stay. If you are going as a couple for a romantic getaway or an adults-only vacation, I would recommend staying on the Wailea side. If you are traveling with kids and doing a family vacation, I would stay on the Ka’anapali side since those hotels are catered more towards family and you’ll get a better price ;)

Now let’s get to the experiences. You really can’t go wrong in Maui. There are unlimited things to do and see. I mean just sitting on the beach was one of my favorite things we did haha! But if you wan’t to get our and explore, here are a few of the most recommended experiences plus some that we did.

Road to Hana Adventure: This is foresure a bucketlist adventure! It is an all-day escursion so plan for an early wake-up call! Key stops include Twin Falls, Wailua Falls, and the Black Sand Beach at Wai'anapanapa State Park. You can go on your own or sign up for guided tours :)

Sunset Sail: There are multiple companies that do sunset sails right on Ka’anapali beach in front of The Westin, so if you’re staying over there it’s super convenient!

Snorkeling in Molokini: We want to do this next time we visit! Just like the sunset sail excursions, there are tons of companies that offer snorkeling excursions! If you don’t want to do a full-day experience, you can also rent some snorkel gear from the hotels and go off on your own, the hotel workers will tell you the best spots! Black Rock on Ka’anapali Beach is top rated for snorkeling! We snorkeled on the Wailea side right in front of our hotel and we saw tons of fishies!

Haleakalā Sunrise: Wake up early to witness the sunrise from the summit of Haleakalā, Maui's dormant volcano. The breathtaking views from the summit are worth the early morning wake-up call.

Luau Experience: 10/10 this is a must! Immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture with a traditional luau. Enjoy traditional music, dance, and a feast of Hawaiian cuisine. Both the Westin and Andaz have Luaus, but we went to the one at the Westin and it was phenomenol! I would also pay a little extra for preferred seating, you’ll get the best seat in the house!

Helicopter Tour: I want to book this next time we go. A helicopter tour offers a unique and breathtaking way to experience the island's diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests and cascading waterfalls to volcanic craters and pristine coastlines

Ziplining: Experience the thrill of soaring above the treetops and valleys on a zipline tour!

Kayak or Canoe: Paddle along Maui's coastline in a kayak or traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe. They offer group tours and also snorkeling kayak tours!

Maui offers the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and romance, making it an ideal destination for your dream honeymoon. Whether you're exploring its natural wonders or simply relaxing on its pristine beaches, Maui is sure to leave you and your loved one with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

And, finally. Here are some of the top places to eat in Maui! I rounded up all the recoemmdnations I received plus added in some of our fave spots :) The food there is INSANE. The most delish and fresh food I’ve ever tasted. You will be in seafood heaven lol.
