Hi, babes! I hope you all are having a wonderful new year! It’s always so hard getting back into the swings of things after vacay so I’m definitely dragging a bit, haha. I know I’ve shared about my hair and extensions in a previous post, but I wanted to share some updates since I’m using some new products and have been using a different brand of hair extensions. Sooooo, first things first, I currently have 20″ hand tied extensions from JZ Styles, and I am obsessed!! I know there are so many different brands out there to choose from, and honestly, it’s overwhelming, so I asked my hair stylist, Ashlee, for some new hair extension brands and she recommended JZ Styles. I’m sure you’ve noticed I’ve been growing out my roots so I have an ombre/balayage look, and I wanted to get extensions that were already rooted to make it easier. I found the color Oatmeal Raisin and OMG they match my hair perfectly. Ashlee just had to tone them a bit, but we didn’t have to do ANY color which is actually better because sometimes (depending on the brand of the hair and color you’re going for), coloring the extensions can be very damaging. Anywho, I ordered 2 packs of the Oatmeal Rasin shade at 20″ in length. They usually recommend 2 packs for a full head of hair, FYI :). I go in every 6-8 weeks to get them moved up – I could go longer but I honestly can’t stand the feeling of the extensions sagging. The process is super easy and painless. Ashlee will take out the extensions, wash my real hair and extensions with purple shampoo or toner (depending on how my blonde looks) and then she re-installs the extensions. If you’ve never had extensions before you may get a little headache when you first get them put in because you aren’t used to them and you’re adding a ton of hair to your head, but other than that I don’t even feel them! Before having hand tied extensions I had tape-ins, and to be honest, I didn’t really like them. At first I loved them, and they looked great right after getting them moved up, but I couldn’t wear my hair up AT ALL and couldn’t do any cute hairstyles. Also, once they start to grow out, sometimes you could see the tape peer through. Some people haven’t experience these issues, so it honestly just depends on your hair type! Anywho, I had them for about 9ish months and since I already had the hair, I decided to keep them in until I needed to replace the hair. If you’re thinking about getting extensions, I would 100000% recommend hand tied extensions. They aren’t damaging to your hair and you can wear your hair up and do any and all hairstyles :). I seriously love my JZ Styles extensions so much, once this hair lives its life I’ll absolutely order again from them :).
On another note, so many people have asked me how often they should wash their hair, but everyone’s hair is so different, and I don’t think there’s a right or wrong with how long you go between washes. I would consult your hairstylist and get his/her opinion if you’re unsure. I wash mine every 2-3 days, but sometimes every other if I have plans and want fresh hair :). I don’t really stick to a schedule, so don’t worry about being strict on washing/not washing!
Okkk now that you know my life story of extensions, let’s get to the products and tools I am using and loving. I have tried
