Hi, babes!! It’s been forever since I’ve done a hair update, so I’m excited to share some new products I’ve been using and loving!
I know things are a bit different now, and while many places are starting to open back up and some of us are able to get out and enjoy our favorite restaurants, shops, gyms, etc. we are still spending so much more time at home, so why not start that haircare routine you’ve been putting off? No better time than right now! Self-care is SO important, and I think while all of us are spending a bit more time in our homes, we should all take a little more “me” time and spoil ourselves with that hair mask, face mask, bubble bath, or whatever it is that you love doing for yourself.
I’ve been working from home since January (when I went full-time blogging), and the best advice I’ve received from a friend was to make sure to get up and get yourself ready each day and to not just roll out of bed and start working. Honestly, I can say I’ve done both, but I feel 100000% better when I get myself ready for the day right when I wake up. I know many of you are working from home for the first time right now and trust me, I looooved not getting ready when I just started for the first week or so, but I promise you, if you get up and do your regular morning routine, you will feel so much more productive throughout the day and you might even feel a bit happier (I know I do!).
MORNING ROUTINE
Anywho! I wanted to share what my morning routine looks like; especially on my hair wash days! Personally, I prefer to wash my hair in the mornings, I’ve tried doing it at night, but it always seems to be a little greasy in the morning, so I stick with mornings (if you prefer nights, you can totally use my schedule for some inspo and just adapt to a time that works for you).
On a normal day, I wake up around 8am, make some coffee and do my skincare routine: daily cleanser, toner, clarifying serum, hydrating cream and skin primer!
I typically like to relax and allow myself to wake up for 30min to an hour after getting up depending on what I have going that day. During that time, I love to use a deep conditioning hair mask before hopping in the shower. When washing my hair, I use the Fortifying Damage Repair with castor oil shampoo and conditioner from Pantene’s Nutrient Blends Collection. This duo is like liquid gold! Both are infused with pro vitamin B5 and castor oil which helps strengthen, protect, and repair damaged hair. I love that they are free of sulfates, dyes, mineral oil and parabens. And, I typically wash my hair every 2-3 days.
Here’s a little hair background: Over the years I have dyed and bleached my hair so much that my hair was literally breaking off and I didn’t know what was happening. I started going to a new hairdresser and she changed my life! She told me I needed to start growing out my natural color to get my hair back to its original health. At that point, I aggressively changed my haircare routine and started paying more attention to what I was using on my hair. I’m so happy that my hair is finallyyyy getting back to how it used to be, and I’m back to loving my natural hair color. Pantene asked me who inspired my beauty routine and when it came to hair, it was definitely my hairdresser!
For most of us women, our hair is like everything to us, and we want to do everything we can to make our hair look good. If you’ve been struggling from major hair breakage from bleach or dye, I would 1000% recommend changing your haircare routine and start looking at damage repair products like the Fortifying Damage Repair with castor oil shampoo and conditioner from Pantene’s Nutrient Blends Collection.
That being said, this duo has been so instrumental in helping my damaged hair come back to life! My hair feels sooo much healthier, stronger and smoother after using the this collection. PLUS, both products are under $7.00 each which is amazing!! You can shop the Pantene products here! If you choose to wash your hair at night, try Pantene’s Overnight Restoring Serum!
After showering and washing my hair, I like to let my hair air dry if possible. However, if it is a photoshoot day or I have plans outside of the house, I’ll let it air dry for 10-20 minutes, put some oils in it, and then blow dry it straight.
Once my hair is done, I’ll get into my makeup routine and either do a light makeup or full-face makeup depending what I have going on. I typically finish everything around 10:30/11am and then I’ll head to the kitchen to make some breakfast, check emails, and get my day started!
Of course this timeline can be adjusted, and I know for many of us, there is “never enough time in the day”, but I have certainly found that putting that extra effort into my haircare, even if it is only an extra half hour each morning, can really add up to healthier hair. Well, I hope this helps if you’re looking for some morning routine tips or some type of schedule to go by for a little extra “me” time and self-care!
XOXO,
Makenna
