IMPORTANT DATES
Hi, gfs!!! It’s almost my fave time of the year….Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!!!! Ahhhh I’m so dang excited to cover it this year and share all my favorite finds. Just a quick note about the dates above and early access – you have to have a Nordstrom credit card in order to have early access.
I am not promoting you all get credit cards, but I just wanted you to be aware of how that works! But if you are interested, I linked more info on that here.
Anywho, over the years of going, I think I’ve finally mastered the sale!
STEP ONE: Preparation. I’ve learned that it’s best to create a list beforehand of general things that you need/want that are top on the priority list (ie. dark wash jeans for boots, tan booties, OTK boots, basic cardigan, etc.). For me, it makes it soo much easier while I’m shopping to not get distracted by all the amazing things! I know exactly what pieces I need most.
STEP TWO: Time to shop. When it’s time to shop early access, I typically go through all the departments and pick out all my “necessities” first. From your top priority list. Then, I’ll go back through and set aside those fun boots and/or that cute patterned sweater…you get the idea! I ALWAYS try everything on, and I like to style everything head-to-toe so I can picture myself in the outfits outside of the dressing room.
STEP THREE: Weeding out the items I know I don’t need 🙁 haha The easiest way for me to weed out items is by realizing that I might only be able to wear it once or that it is only good for certain occasions, doesn’t match with a whole lot, etc. When buying for fall clothes, I always make sure the pieces are versatile, can be layered easily, can be dressed up or down (skirts especially), etc. For shoes, if you can’t decide between a few pairs of black booties, try them on with outfits and pick the one that you can wear the most! I made the mistake of buying multiple pairs of black booties last year and only really wearing 1 pair over and over again.
STEP FOUR: Being responsible. Ok, the N Sale is the BEST. But, I think it’s important to stick to a budget or give yourself a good range to stay between. You never want to overspend especially when you don’t have the means to. Having a plan and sticking to it can help you stay on track with your list (especially this year when we can all preview the items on July 24!!). Since we will all get a digital preview, you can even screenshot exactly what you’re eyeing and save it to your phone so when you go into the store you know exactly what you want! 🙂
Anywho, I just wanted to give you guys a few tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the years that has helped me when shopping the sale to stay on track and not get carried away. To give you an idea of what my list looks like, I’ve included mine for this year below (I’ll update this after the preview on July 24) 🙂 I hope this helps you guys prepare for the sale! I’ll also be sure to do a post once I’ve shopped the sale and I’ll compile all my favorites (w/ pics of course) so you guys can see how everything looks on! 🙂
MY #NSALE LIST
- Barefoot Dreams Cardigan (this is always one of the top sellers of the sale and I regret not buying it last year so it’s a must for this year!)
- Felt Brim Hat (Get this first (if they have some this year) – these always sell out the fastest, so I always grab it first and then I can try it on with all my outfits to make sure I like it 😉
- Black Skinny Jeans (to me, it’s the best time to “splurge” on a pair of nice jeans that will last you a long time! And I liiiive in black skinnies through fall and winter)
- Medium to Dark Wash Skinny Jeans (I wear jeans all through fall and winter with OTK boots, booties, flats, sneaks, etc. – these are a must-have)
- Basic V-necks (I swear you can never have too many v-neck tees and I’m due for a black and white one)
- Basic Long Sleeves (I love the BP brand – they usually have a great basic style every year that’s perfect for layering and everyday casual outfits)
- Neutral Cardigan (I love having a staple cardigan for the fall and winter that I can wear with everything!)
- Oversized Sweater (I looooved my turtleneck tunic sweater last year, and I would love one like it this year!!)
- Camis for layering (BP always has the best camis during the sale – the leopard one last year sold out in minutes!! They’re perfect for layering and can easily be dressed up or down)
- Leggings (they always have a great selection of leggings on sale, so I love to stock up on a few while they’re 40% off)
- Tan OTK Boots (this one isn’t a must must have, BUT I would loooove a pair of tan OTK boots. I bought the Stuart Weitzman ones in black last year and OMG best purchase ever, so if they have tan ones this year, I might have to splurge!)
- Tan & Black Booties (I liiiive in booties all fall and winter, and last year the Vince Camuto ones were my top seller! Hoping to find a new boot this year that I can wear with jeans, skirts, dresses…literally everything!!)
- Athletic Sneaks (I totally regret not getting the Adidas last year, so if they have another cute pair of workout sneaks for cheap, I’m definitely adding to my cart!!)
- Barefoot Dreams Blanket (this is the BEST time to stock up on your fave blanket or purchase one for the first time. I bought my first one last year and I use it every single day. Worth every penny!!!)
Here’s a start to my list – of course it’s not must-haves, but things that I will be looking for! Lets be honest, once I get in there I’ll find other stuff I am sure! Hopefully this list helps you guys when creating your own list and thinking about what you are looking to buy for the fall/winter!!
AND!!! I will of course share everything that I buy and will do a huge roundup of outfits with everything as well so you can see how I style everything once I get it 😉 Make sure you follow me on Insta! Eeeeek! So excited to shop and share with you guys!!! XOXO
